my favorite purchases of 2016

These past few days have been a whirlwind of holiday spirits, newly acquired trinkets and so. many. sweets. The merry memories of the past few days are still at the forefront of my thoughts, so as I make a bittersweet attempt to close out 2016, I thought it would be fitting to highlight a few of my favorites from the year. From go-to beauty picks to coveted apparel + accessories, below are a round-up of products I’ve purchased across a variety of categories and price points that have proved their worth throughout the last 12 months. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

For my own plans this week, I will be spending time with my boyfriend’s family in Wisconsin followed by a weekend enjoying Chicago. Last year, I made a resolution to create a “grateful jar” filled with slips of little moments I felt thankful for, so I’m excited to pour through 365 days of feel-good memories with a glass of my favorite champagne come New Year’s Eve. Talk about the ultimate way to end the year!  I’ll be sure to document the event, but until then, I wanted to wish you a low-key week heading into the new year!

ONE// T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand

A favorite beauty tool that was definitely worth the splurge. This wand has been the only product I’ve found to date that styles and holds my hair for duration of a day and night {without using an absurd amount of hairspray.}

TWO// Kate Spade 17 Month Agenda

My ultimate secret to staying organized through the year. This planner not only has a cute cover, but an easy-to-follow week-by-week view, making it possible to plan for both personal and professional events, no matter how last minute.

THREE// Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace

This pendant is easily my most-worn jewelry piece, lending itself well to both casual or dressy ensembles alike. Beyond the iridescent-white selection seen here, there are a variety of pendant colors to choose from to compliment your own unique wardrobe and tastes.

FOUR// Too Faced Mascara

I’m a mascara junkie and this one seems to do it all: lengthen, curl and add volume without any clumps or unwanted residue. I’ve meddled with other brands, but always come back to this choice for its easy application and enviable after-effect.

FIVE// Capri Blue Jar Candle

I own a variety of scented candles, but I particularly love this candle’s light, floral aroma that fills a room after only several minutes of being lit. Plus, its chic iridescent jar easily accents any mantle, tray or table.

SIX// Articles of Society Skinny Jeans

Jeans are one article of clothing I dislike buying, but not since discovering this super comfortable denim brand. Not only are they flattering, but they come in a wide variety of styles and colors, all at an attractive price point of less than $100.

SEVEN// Nike Juvenate Sneaker

These casual athletic shoes pair well with just about any activity or outing. With their lightweight composition and memory-foam insoles, they are the perfect shoes to pop on for a stroll to the farmer’s market, hot yoga or even morning-after brunch.

EIGHT// Kate Spade Harmony Tote

This bag is an ideal choice for a work tote. Beyond its stylish exterior, it’s large enough to hold all my work necessities {i.e. laptop, notebooks, papers} while being durable enough to last the turbulent conditions of a Chicago commute. Based on its current like-new condition, I’m confident it will carry me well in 2017.

NINE// Zara Soft Striped Scarf

Investing in a blanket scarf was top of my list as soon as the frigid Midwest winter rolled in and this Zara pick has become an item I reach for over and over again. With a super soft and cozy exterior, neutral color palate and true “blanket-like” structure you really can’t go wrong with this cold-weather accessory.

TEN// Dr. Brandt Skincare Microdermabrasion Exfoliator

During the warmer months, a good exfoliator is a must in my beauty arsenal and this product is my go-to choice. Although a bit pricey, a little bit goes a long way with Dr. Brandt’s exfoliator which rids my skin of excess build-up and leaves it feeling touch-ably soft.

ELEVEN// Lululemon Hi-Rise Wunder Under Pant

I’ve been a lulu legging fanatic for quite some time, but their hi-rise line is a new favorite. Whether pairing with a crop top at yoga, or an oversized sweatshirt after a night of indulging, I always feel great rocking a pair of these flattering lounge-pants, which just so happen to come in a variety of appealing colors and patterns.

TWELVE// Revlon ColorStay Gel Nail-Polish

As someone who doesn’t like to indulge in a weekly mani, this DIY two-step gel polish keeps color on my nails as long as a salon application. After trying a variety of different brands, I keep coming back to this duo for its great color selection and glossy, gel-like finish that keeps my nails chip-free day-after-day.

THIRTEEN// Nars Blush

I’ve been using this blush for a while and have yet to find a competing product that dispenses the natural-rosiness and sheen to my cheekbones as well as this one. Its shine acts as a 2-in-1 highlighter, which compliments my skin regardless of the season.

FOURTEEN// J.Crew Quilted Vest

I loves vests, but often shy away from them for daily wear because of their bulkiness. However, this choice has become both a fall and winter staple for me. From throwing it over a casual sweater for class, to dressing it up with a skirt for dinner, the quilted design and metallic accents make it both form-fitting and stylish for any occasion.
